Drug test positiv!
To prevent this from happening
1 to the students of the Oberstufe Handelsschule (BWO110), the police officer Mr Heß from Euskirchen came to the Berufskolleg Eifel to talk to us.
In his presentation he explained the difference between legal and illegal drugs. Alcohol, for example, is a legal drug. So, you are allowed to buy and to consume it. But only if you do not endanger other people: Both, as a learner driver
2 and a young driver, you mustn’t have alcohol in your blood. But sometimes even normal sweets (for example “Milchschnitte”) can contain little amounts of alcohol. So, in some rare cases
3
, you can have a certain level of alcohol in your blood although you haven’t drunk any alcohol at all…
At the end of the presentation we were able to do a kind of a test pretending we were on drugs: We were wearing a pair of special goggles
4 which simulates the perception of being on drugs
5.
We had to walk on a line, catch a tennis ball and walk through an obstacle course
6.
In the end it was good to know that a drug test would have been negative. And we are grateful to get to know the risks of legal as well as illegal drugs when taking part in road traffic because, as we all know, living in the Eifel means that you definitely need a driving licence!
